Color Still Life

For our first color project, we had to do a still life. I used both regular color pencils and prismacolors. The technique we were taught was layering. I also incorporated cross hatching. I guess the grapes took me longer than anything, and honestly, a lot of this was rushed. I’m not in anyway satisfied with this, and if I were to rate it, I’d give myself a 3. I think the background should’ve been darker, as well as the wagon and skull. I think the only okay part of this all are the grapes nearest to the two large leave.

: Graphite

This was our classes’s first actual project (besides the portfolio cover). It is of course a still life composed of objects of our choice. We were only allowed to use graphite. I used primarily graphite sticks, and prisma pencils. For the most part I executed value with cross hatching, but many parts were smoot value. In all honesty, I didn’t draw this directly from what the still life looked like, I changed smaller details here and there, for one the bear was white and it was really difficult to really see where the value would go. Another decision that I had to make was whether or not the cast shadows would overlap other object.

My name is Gaby, not Gabbey! Or Gabby! Hello I am a sophomore at the Academy. Artwork? That I admire? I admire all kinds! Especially those that I feel I cannot remotely accomplish. Though I’d have to say that art from the romantic period was for a long time my inspiration. As much I’d like to say I enjoy creating all art forms equally, I can’t! I enjoy drawing, painting, on actual paper or on photoshop. I can’t sculpt to save my life! If it weren’t obvious through any of my drawings, I love drawing animals. For most of my life, that’s all I’d draw. Wolves. Wolves. Wolves. and Dogs. Ha. But I’d like to think I’ve branched out since those days. This year in art I don’t really know what I’d like to achieve, maybe get a better understanding on what on earth I’m doing or should be doing or shouldn’t be doing when I’m drawing or painting.
